Top Picks from NHL Draft Join Slovakia’s National Hockey Team for World Championship

Opponents of the Latvian men’s hockey team in the world championship Slovakia will also have the number one pick of the 2022 National Hockey League (NHL) draft Juraj Slafkovskis and the second pick Shimons Nemets.

The 20-year-old Montreal Canadiens forward Slafkowski has appeared in all 82 games this NHL season, scoring 20 goals and 30 assists for a negative -19 efficiency rating. His peer, Nemec, had three accurate shots, 16 assists and a negative utility of -7 in 60 contests.

Defenseman Martin Feherváry of the Washington Capitals, as well as forwards Martin Pospišil of the Calgary Flames and Tomáš Tatar of the Seattle Kraken will also be part of Slovakia’s NHL roster this season.
