The Final Four began on the extra-sporting grounds. On Friday, incidents broke out at the entrance to the Uber Arena in Berlin, a few hours before the first Euroleague semi-final between Panathinaikos and Fenerbahçe. Indeed, the arrival of Istanbul fans gave rise to clashes with Greek supporters. Around twenty supporters also forced entry to the room. The German police subsequently had to intervene and regained control with the arrival of reinforcements and supporters were arrested.
Olympiakos-Panathinaïkos, a derby between fans
The second incident, the most serious, took place shortly before midnight on Saturday, between supporters of Olympiakos and Panathinaikos. About sixty people clashed. Baseball bats and batons were used, a police spokesperson said. This massive brawl in Berlin triggered a major police operation in the evening with arrests.
According to firefighters, twelve people were injured at the Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn station, nine lightly, two seriously and another in danger of death. As a reminder, the Euroleague final will take place this Sunday evening. Real Madrid, who defeated Olympiakos (87-76), will face Panathinaikos. The Spanish giant hopes to win its 12th coronation in the competition.
