Intense and spectacular match at the Caja Magica in Madrid (Spain) among the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (n.2 WTA) e la kazaka Elena Rybakina (No. 4 in the world). An eagerly awaited challenge which saw the comeback success of the girl born in Minsk, capable of shaking herself off after a horrible first set and triumphing with a score of 1-6 7-5 7-6 (5). There are some regrets for Rybakina, having found herself ahead by a break in the second set and at 30-30 of the tenth game unable to make a fifteen that would have taken her to match point. It will therefore be Sabalenka who will face the world no.1, Every Swiatekand even in this case a decidedly interesting and captivating intersection is expected.
In the first set the Belarusian doesn’t work well and it’s easy for the Kazakh to take command of the operations. Rybakina breaks her opponent’s serve in the fourth and sixth games, canceling a counter-break chance in the fifth. The great difficulties of the world no. 2 give confidence to the WTA no. 4, who closes the round at zero at the serve of the seventh game, winning the partial at 6-1.
In the second set Rybakina was effective again in response, going one break ahead in the third game and erasing two counter-break chances in the next game. Sabalenka makes an impact in the eighth, but again the serve doesn’t support her in the ninth. The Kazakh is in a position to close, but at 30-30 she makes a sensational mistake that gives her opponent oxygen back. Sabalenka takes advantage of her “survivor” status and wins the partial at 7-5.
In the third set the level of both is decidedly high and in the eleventh game Sabalenka is the only one who has to cancel two break points from Rybakina. We go to the tie-break and the Belarusian plays splendidly, showing notable accelerations. Rybakina doesn’t have the strength to come back from 1-5 and the n.2 in the ranking closes at 7-5.
