We recently held a press conference for Yoshiro Ochiai, who will be the head coach for the 2024-25 season.

I thought that Yoshiro Ochiai would be the person who best understands and embodies the “Grind!” club culture that Sendai 89ERS cherishes, so I made the offer.
Mr. Ochiai has been working closely with Head Coach Oketani Daimae (hereinafter referred to as HC) for three years, and also under Head Coach Hiroki Fujita for three years, serving as a bridge between the players and the head coach, working together to “Grind!” He has created a culture like this. And he is the unsung hero who pushed us from B2 to B1.
We made this decision because we believe that Mr. Ochiai will lead us to our goal of winning the B. Premier in our first year.
The Sendai 89ERS will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the club’s founding next season.
Over the past 20 years, we have overcome difficult times, difficult times, earthquake disasters, and coronavirus, and we have been able to move forward with the support of many people, including the local community, sponsors, and fans. I did.
As we continue to grow into a strong and beloved club that will continue for the next 20 years, or even 100 years, and bring Sendai the best in Japan, we will continue to grow from the 2018-19 season to this point in the year of our 20th anniversary. I’m very happy to be able to fight alongside Mr. Ochiai, who has built this culture.
Mr. Ochiai, who grew up with me in Sendai and Miyagi, and we both became number one in Japan when we were at Sendai High School. I’m happy to be able to compete with my friends at a local club, and I definitely want to become number one in Japan once again.
We will continue to move forward so that next season will be a season filled with more smiles than this year.

When I received the offer to become head coach, I was both nervous and felt a strong sense of responsibility.
I started playing basketball in Katahira when I was in elementary school, but I never dreamed that one day I would become the head coach in my hometown.
I feel that I am here now because of the support of many people and the club’s history over the past 20 years.
I would like to give back to all the people and fans who have supported me through basketball.

The Sendai 89ERS, a club that experienced the earthquake, is what it is today thanks to the support of many people, and the Niners can be a ray of hope for others.As I am, I am proud to play basketball in Sendai. I want to convey to the players the meaning of basketball and who they play basketball for.
It is common for professionals to work hard even when things are tough, but I would like to make this common practice more of a standard.
– Mr. Ochiai: B. Enthusiasm for Premier
As we aim for the “B. Premier” scenery that no one has seen before, I think it is important how we spend the next two years until 2026. This season, we achieved the highest winning percentage in club history (B1), but first we need to build a team that can compete for the championship. I want to work on it with a firm and clear vision.
