0:0, 0:0. The Slovenians and the Danes went through with three draws to advance, the Serbians end up at the Euros

The English against Slovenia and the Danes against Serbia drew 0:0 in the final duels of Group C at the European Football Championship. England advanced from first place with five points, three draws were enough for Denmark and Slovenia, and the Serbians finished with two points.

After the third draw in the tournament, the Slovenians are celebrating their first advance to the knockout stage. In the second and third place, they and the Danes had to be decided by the UEFA ranking after the result of 1:1 from the mutual duel and in the event of a match on points, equality of scores and the number of yellow cards.

In it, Denmark was ninth and Slovenia fifteenth, but it is already certain that Slovenia will advance to the round of 16 from the team table in third place. It will overtake at least Hungary and Croatia.

The Slovenians have yet to find out their opponent in the round of 16, just like the English, who were already certain of progressing before today’s match. The Danes will play Germany.

Slovenian coach Kek gave confidence to the same starting line-up for the third time in the tournament. His counterpart Southgate made one change compared to the opening two duels, when Gallagher replaced Alexander-Arnold in the midfield.

A cautious opening half did not offer any great scoring chances. In the 20th minute, the English winger Saka opened the net, but his joy was soon spoiled by a waved offside. Five minutes before the break, Trippier’s cross flew just past the far post, but that was all the English side did in the first half.

Even the Slovenians did not make it to the end, even though they played a balanced game against the favorite. After the change of sides, they pulled back more and the English created pressure in places, but still without more interesting offensive actions.

Even the match in Cologne thus confirmed that Group C has the fewest goals in the championship with only seven goals scored. It didn’t change even in the setting of substitute Palmer, whose technical attempt was neutralized by the Slovenian goalkeeper Oblak.

The Slovenians did not beat England even in the seventh attempt, on the other hand, they drew with them for the second time out of the last three duels.

Denmark bet against Serbia on a proven line-up, with the only change being the return of the right-back with a past in Prague’s Slavia Baha. Serbia made more changes to the lineup and made three changes.

Mijailovič got a chance for the first time in the tournament, Samardžič was also in the starting lineup for the first time, and Gudelj strengthened the midfield to help cover the Danish captain Eriksen.

It was Eriksen who got the best chance of the first half, when he shot from 20 meters in the 21st minute, but goalkeeper Rajkovič blocked his attempt. Otherwise, it was more of a tactical game and defense dominated. Neither team was taking any risks and the fans were bored.

Only another clever moment from Eriksen brought them out of their lethargy. He noticed that the Serbian defense was not guarding the nearer post at the corner, fired the ball directly at the goal, and after a fight between Wind and the goalkeeper Rajković, the ball ended up in the net. However, the goal could not be recognized because the ball got over the goal line in flight.

Serbia needed to win, and since they didn’t create anything good in the first half, coach Stojkovic made two changes at halftime and sent offensive jokers Jovic and captain Tadic into the game.

For a moment there was revival and Serbia even got a goal when Andersen knocked Jovic’s shot pass into his own goal. But Jovic was offside earlier and the goal was not valid.

But Denmark did not allow themselves to be pushed and, on the contrary, had more of the game again. And also Vestergaard’s chance, but the lanky stopper only headed into the goalkeeper’s area after Eriksen’s cross.

Ten minutes before the end, the Danes made a mistake in their own box, Serbia got the ball, but Mitrovic missed the goal with his attempt at the back post. The Serbians tried to create pressure in the end, but they did not get a significant chance.
