2024 Olympics, rugby sevens: from Los Angeles to Madrid and soon Paris, Stephen Parez Edo, never without his father

It’s a hug, a real one, the one where we hold each other very tightly to say to each other through the embrace what words cannot express. The two men bring the joy of a first coronation, after so many encouraging defeats, of “we were almost there” and of weekends watching others lift the trophies. They add the pride of a father for his son and the happiness of a child to light up his dad’s eyes. And above all, they live this short moment just for themselves, there among the others.

This March 4, 2024, Stephen and José Parez Edo finally separate. A few minutes earlier, the rugby player and his partners from the French 7s team lifted the first trophy in the history of this group, that of the Los Angeles tournament won with the reinforcement of Antoine Dupont. Unheard of since 2005, and absolutely unprecedented for his 63-year-old father. At his side, in stadiums around the world, on the world circuit since 2013 and his debut with the Blues.
