Max Verstappen emerged as the 2024 Spanish GP Formula 1 champion. The Red Bull team racer beat Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.
The tenth series of F1 2024 was held at the Catalunya Circuit, Barcelona, Sunday (23/6) evening WIB. Lando Norris started the race as pole-sitter.
George Russel pushed into pole position entering Turn 1 of the first lap. He was followed by Verstappen and Norris behind him.
Verstappen overtook Russell on the third lap and led the race until he entered the pit on the 18th lap. Norris took over P1 before entering the pit on the 24th lap.
Max Verstappen returned to the leading position after Norris entered the lap. Russell and Lewis Hamilton are behind him.
A thrilling situation occurred at the end of the race when Verstappen was only 2.4 seconds away from Norris. The defending F1 champion’s tires were worn out, but he was still able to maintain his position and emerge as winner of the 2024 F1 Spanish GP.
Lando Norris managed to secure second place behind Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton achieved P3 and became his first podium since the 2023 F1 Mexican GP.
George Russel is fourth, followed by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Oscar Piastri, Sergio Peres, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon filled seventh to tenth place.
This is Max Verstappen’s seventh win in F1 2024. The Dutch driver is increasingly firmly at the top of the F1 standings with 219 points, 70 points ahead of Lando Norris below him.
