53 arrests at Wembley after the final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund

London police announced on Saturday evening that they had made 53 arrests during the C1 final.

London police announced on Saturday evening that they had made 53 arrests at Wembley, where Real Madrid won their 15th Champions League against Borussia Dortmund (2-0), including five for trespassing on the pitch.

Most of the others arrested were arrested for attempted intrusions into the secure perimeter, according to the police, who point out that major sporting events often give rise to such attempts by spectators without tickets.

The British organizers had deployed a significant system (police officers, stewards, reception staff, etc.) to avoid the incidents occurring at Wembley in 2021, on the sidelines of the England-Italy Euro final, and in 2022 in Saint- Denis when Real won its last title against Liverpool.

“Videos shared online showing groups running towards entrances do not necessarily represent successful attempts to enter the stadium”underlined Saturday evening Scotland Yard, highlighting the “multiple additional security levels”.
