The players from the A Estrada Badminton Club Rubén Comeròn and Iziar Barcala participated last weekend in the Spanish Junior International held in the town of Campello, Alicante.
The first of them competed in the doubles category with Raúl Bergua from Ravachol, but they lost in the first round against the Danish players Jesper Østergaard and Otto Reiler, by 19/21 7/21. It was an intense match, against some tough rivals.
Iziar participated in all three modalities. In Mixed, together with Raúl Bergua, they lost in the first round against the German players Emmerich/Winnefeld in three sets by 21/9 9/21 10/21. In the doubles category with Carmen Carro, they also lost in the first round against the Germans Dreessen/ Karmann by 21/18 21/11.
In Individual, he reached the round of 16. He started by beating a Swedish player. They then defeated rival Wales, one of the tournament’s top seeds, in the second round. In the third round, after a tough match with long points and deputies, she lost her match against Malaysian player Ler Qi by 10/21 11/21, ending her participation in a top-level tournament.
