Crowned in the discus for the seventh time in a row, Croatian Sandra Elkasevic is the first athlete to achieve this performance at the European Championships on Saturday.

A victory for history. The Croatian Sandra Elkasevic won her 7th consecutive European title in the discus on Saturday evening in Rome, a record, after a competition where the oldest member of the French team, Mélina Robert-Michon, took 9th place.

In a sparse but excited Roman Olympic Stadium, the Croatian, also double Olympic champion (2012, 2016) and double world champion (2013, 2017), achieved the feat at the age of 33 of winning a 7th consecutive European title thanks to a throw at 67.04 m on his first attempt.

She is ahead of the Dutch Jorinde Van Klinken (65.99 m) and the Portuguese Liliana Ca (64.53 m). In the same competition, Mélina Robert-Michon took 9th place with a throw of 60.87 m, below the expectations of the Frenchwoman who wanted, at 44 years old and on the occasion of her 70th selection, to get closer to the minimums Olympics.
