Ahn Se-young shook up her opponent, China’s Chen Yu-fei, with an unexpected play.
He scored the final blow with a powerful smash and took the set point.
So far, they have conquered the world by inducing mistakes in long rallies based on their strengths of speed and defense, but they have evolved to the next level with a change in idea.

“I thought that running for a long time was never good for my body. (In the past) I thought I only really played a running game, so I think I improved my attack more.”
The result was successful.
In the two actual competitions held ahead of the Paris Olympics, they reached the finals and took first place and second place.
In particular, overcoming the aftereffects of my injury was the biggest gain.

“I think I wanted to show more that ‘I am healthy now’ and ‘I am more confident now’. So I think it was a really light and refreshing match.”
The process wasn’t easy.
As his performance fluctuated early this season in the aftermath of a knee injury suffered during the finals of the Hangzhou Asian Games, he had to constantly battle numerous speculations about his physical condition.

Eventually, I found a way to adapt to my physical condition and now I have the confidence that I can beat anyone.

“I actually think I have a 70% advantage. Now I think I have to make sure I win the Olympic gold medal.”
