New leader for the Syntainics MBC!
The Weissenfels team has signed veteran Akeem Vargas (34). The all-rounder has been playing in the BBL for 14 years and scored 1453 points in 396 games. Vargas was captain of the MLP Academics Heidelberg last season. The former national player (43 international matches) signed a “pension contract” with MBC until 2026!
“Akeem Vargas is exactly the player you hate when you play against him,” says MBC boss Martin Geissler (40). “That’s why, after many years, it was time for us to turn the tables and get the league’s most uncomfortable defender, because we will love him on our own team. Akeem will be our defense minister.”

Vargas was born to an American father in Lancaster in Los Angeles County, but grew up in Germany and attended the well-known basketball boarding school “Urspringschule”. From 2013 to 2018 he played for Alba Berlin and won the cup with them twice. Geissler: “He will be one of our new leaders.”
