Al Horford: The Unsung Hero of the Boston Celtics

To talk about the current Celtics is to talk about a complete team that is prepared for any kind of battle. Moreover, it is already quite a challenge to find a weak point in that. However, on the other hand, namely personal praise and recognition, it seems easier to have players like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday who stand out every night. Well, when you ask Brad Stevens about this more individual aspect of the game, it is clear who his man is: Al Horford.

“The bottom line is that we are much better because Al Horford is on our team, and everyone on the court is better because Al Horford is on our team.” That’s the most important thing. He is able to drive the team forward. It’s always been that way. We don’t take it for granted. “We know how important it is,” says Boston president Baxter Holmes ESPN.

Stevens may have a point. At 38, Horford seems to have frozen his game count to continue to perform at a simply spectacular level. On the one hand, he keeps going without giving up any effort when he’s on the hardwood. On the other hand, his numbers have not suffered, averaging 9.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2 assists in these playoffs.
