Alcaraz exits in the round of 16 at Queen’s

Title holder, Carlos Alcaraz leaves the Queen’s turf in the round of 16 after a surprise defeat against Jack Draper on Thursday (7-6, 6-3).

The Briton Jack Draper, 31st in the world, created a sensation in the round of 16 of the London grass tournament at Queen’s by beating the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, world No.2 and defending champion (7-6, 6-3). He won his first title on clay at Roland Garros a few weeks ago.

After a first set won in the decisive game, Draper, winner last week of the first tournament of his career on the Stuttgart lawn, made the decisive break in the sixth game in the second set, to break away 5-2 and finally beat the defending champion at Wimbledon in two sets.
