The 27-year-old is only two wins away from his first Grand Slam title. After his clear three-set victory over Australian Alex de Minaur, last year’s finalist Casper Ruud, against whom he was eliminated in the same round in 2023, is now waiting in the semifinals.
After reaching the round of the last four, the Hamburg native answered Eurosport’s questions in an interview – but after three it was suddenly over, despite further questions from the reporter.

The TV station employee initially wanted to know why there would be a different result this time than last year. “I don’t know if there will be a different result this time. We’ll see on Friday,” said Zverev. When asked further how he would assess the match, the Hamburg native replied: “That was three questions, thank you.” It is quite possible that this number was agreed upon beforehand.
Nevertheless, it did not take long for the tennis community to X spoke up. “Strange interview from Zverev, causing offense is his superpower,” wrote one user, another user said: “I found it strange too, I like Zverev, but the way he did the interview was unnecessary. He can do better.”

Before that, Zverev briefly commented on his duel with de Minaur. It was a “difficult match” and he was happy that he had won it. When asked about the reasons for his strong tiebreak record, which is 23:2 in Paris, he replied: “For me, the most important thing is to stay focused and find a way. I think I did that in many situations today and I’m happy about that.”
On Friday (June 7th) there will be a repeat of last year’s semi-final against Ruud, and Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will also meet. Meanwhile, Zverev has also spoken about his working relationship with his father and provided some remarkable insights. (masc)
