Thanks to Rivera and his team, Puerto Rican archery will be in its first Olympic Games since the Atlanta 1996 edition, where María Reyes saw action. Rivera feels that he already wants to shoot and break the ice, in addition to enjoying his historic moment.
“There are a lot of emotions running through me at once. I am excited to get there,” said the 22-year-old athlete, who also graduated in December with a bachelor’s degree in Education from the UPR in Río Piedras.
“I am a bit nervous, but that is normal when facing an event like this. I am happy, enjoying the moment. I am enjoying it fully, taking advantage of all the experiences I can have,” she added after participating in the parade of the outfits that the delegation will wear at the opening parade of the Games at the Olympic House.
