Alpine Considers Mick Schumacher as Potential F1 Driver for Next Season

“Mercedes” reserve driver Mick Schumacher got the opportunity to prove himself at the wheel of an F1 car. The Alpine team will give him the opportunity to do tests and consider him as a candidate for a place in its main team.

Esteban Ocon will leave the team after this season, and Pierre Gasly’s contract will expire this year. Therefore, the composition of “Alpine” for the next F1 season is currently unclear.

It became public knowledge on Monday that Apine is in talks with Carlos Sainz, but it is no secret that the Spaniard also has offers from Kick Sauber/Audi and Williams.

Schumacher is currently an Alpine driver in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), where the team has expressed satisfaction with his dedication and performance. As early as next week, Schumacher will conduct F1 car tests and will be considered as a candidate for a place in the F1 team. The tests are scheduled for July 3 in France, at the Paul Ricard circuit, and the German pilot will drive the 2022 model A522.

In the meantime, Flavio Briatore, well-known in F1 circles, who was once forced to leave the championship after the 2008 “crashgate” scandal, has officially become the exclusive advisor of “Alpine”. The Italian admitted in an interview that Gazli could keep his place, but the other could be a new or even more experienced pilot.

It is known that Alpine’s official F1 test pilot Jack Duane is also among the applicants.
