Amy Yang leads the KPMG Women’s Championship, Céline Boutier falls to 25th place

In 2006, Amy Yang became the youngest player to win the LET, at 16 years old. Everyone then predicted a garland of Majors for him. Almost two decades later, the South Korean (35 years old at the end of July) still dreams of a first Grand Slam after having been around so often (first Top 10 in 2009, twice 2nd at the US Open in 2012 and 2015 notably). The time has perhaps come to repair this form of anomaly since Amy Yang will enter the final round of the KPMG in the preferential position (-7), with two strokes ahead of the American Lauren Hartlage and the Japanese Miyu Yamashita.

The South Korean, however, had to fight fiercely against the course during this third round (71, 3 birdies, 2 bogeys). She also struggles with herself: “Every time I hit the ball, I try not to think about the consequences on the ranking because I know it’s very close. I feel nervous but I try to stay in the moment. I grew up watching so many great players win major titles. I dreamed of playing here thanks to them. I worked hard for this. It would mean a lot to me to join them but there are still 18 holes to go and that is a lot of golf. » From Jean Van de Velde in the text!

Projecting success is unfortunately no longer on the agenda for Céline Boutier. As often since the start of the season, the Frenchwoman alternated flashes and gaps during this third round (five bogeys, two birdies). IF the long game was very correct (10 fairways taken out of 14), the Frenchwoman lacked success around and on the greens. The two points conceded at the end of the game (15, 18) took it out of the Top 15 in which it then appeared (25th, +2). Given the density of the ranking, Céline Boutier obviously still has the means to score big points in this third Major of the season. If consistency eventually catches up with her.
