Ana María Rendón: Journey to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with Smart Fit

Ana María Rendón, an outstanding athlete from the Colombian archery team, is in the final phase of preparation to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where she will participate for the fourth time in her career. Recently, Ana María shared with Smart Fit, the official fitness center chain of the Colombian Olympic Committee, the rigorous training and preparation processes that have been fundamental to her path to these Olympic Games.

Bogotá, June 2024. “For any athlete who aspires to reach the Olympic Games in my discipline, extreme concentration, physical resistance and mental ability are required,” explained Ana María, “discipline is the fundamental basis to reach this level of competition.”

Ana María revealed that her daily routine covers between five and ten hours of training, focused on the technical, physical and mental part. Physical preparation includes specific exercises to strengthen the muscles necessary for archery, as well as cardio sessions to manage heart rate during competitions.

She also highlighted the importance of mental preparation, which includes visualisations and concentration exercises to improve her performance at key moments. “Each competition is a learning opportunity. I adjust my preparation according to the conditions and lessons learned at each event,” shared Ana María.

Like Ana, hundreds of high-performance athletes in the country receive the support of Smart Fit, which supports all Olympic athletes in their physical preparation towards Paris 2024. The Company’s Black plan offers them access to any of the more than 170 offices distributed in 38 cities in the country and also in offices in Latin America where the company has a presence.

Regarding her goals for the Paris Olympic Games, Ana María said, “my goals are personal, I seek to carry out a safe and calm competition, reflecting the passion and happiness I feel when practicing my sport in my results.” Representing Colombia in the Olympic Games means great pride and responsibility for Ana María. It is her way of telling all of Colombia that you can always dream big.

The classification of this discipline will take place on July 25. From there, according to the ranking, the competitions will be scheduled that will extend until August 4, when the archery discipline will conclude. In the women’s recurve category, 64 athletes from 40 countries will participate.
