Why not keep him? He did his job well as a scorer, but he wouldn’t be brought in for his defense. He also seems to be a popular teammate.
Let’s take a quick look at Article 1 of the Basketball Rules:

Basketball is played by 2 teams of 5 players each. The goal of each team is to throw the ball into the opposing team’s basket and prevent the other team from doing so.
If Edwards was “not brought in for his defense,” then they deliberately brought in only half a player. Would they consider signing a player with one arm if he could defend well and score well with that arm?
And less polemical. His defense would have been pathetic for much of the season if he had given the impression that it was important to him and that he was really trying. Instead, it was just listless following behind. A block was put against him and the opponent had a clear path. I didn’t understand why Edwards was often put against the best attacker by Laso. My assumption over the course of the season was that at least the other four attackers were well defended, that help was needed against the best anyway and that at least experts were playing helpside.
Basically, Obst had the same problem after moving to FCBB. He couldn’t score as many points up front as he caused at the back because the opponents consistently played through his opponent. That’s why he spent a frustrating amount of time on the bench. He worked on it and became an important player in the world champion team. And that’s also the question of why FCBB needs Edwards when they have Obst on the team. Give Obst the playing time that Edwards did and you have a shooter with defense. A clear upgrade.
