Andalusia Shines in Spanish Championship Group Stage: Advancing to Finals in Three Categories

This Friday the group stage of the Spanish Championship for Regional Teams that is being held in Huelva (Andalusia) has ended, in which we have managed to advance to the final phase in the three categories: Cadet, Children and Inclusive.

CADET

The Cadete team, after beating Aragón 6-1 last Thursday, has finished the groups with a 7-0 victory over Castilla La Mancha. In the DX Alberto Martínez and María Luisa Jiménez began by defeating Ángel Flores and Lucía Barbero (11-21/21-10). The Andalusians also won two rounds, DF and DM. On the women’s side, Ángela Moyano and Sandra Pastor defeated Laura Kwiecen and Lucía Marqueño (12-21/21-19), while on the men’s side Alberto Martínez and Asier Torres managed to beat Ángel Flores and Mateo Higueras (10-21/21 -16).

In the Individuals 2 María Luisa Jiménez (21-5/21-12 vs Lucía Marqueño) and Asier Torres (21-9/21-13 vs Mateo Higueras) achieved victories. And in the last round of matches Alba Moriel (21-12/23-21 vs Laura Kwiecen) and Mario Rodríguez (21-13/21-9 vs Marcos Romero) put the final 7-0 on the scoreboard.

Today Andalusia will start the final phase facing Madrid at 9:00 am.

CHILDREN

The Children’s National Team played the two group stage matches yesterday, finally finishing in first place after beating both Aragón (6-1) and Asturias (4-3).

Against Asturias the DX fell on the local side, Guillermo Muñoz and Sara Arenas beating Mark Kravchyshyn and Analia Sabela Villabona (21-10/21-14), but the Asturians equalized the score with the victory of Belén Soto and Deva García over Aitana Tejeiro and María del Pilar Carmona in three sets (13-21/21-15/21-17). However, we took the lead again at the end of the doubles section with the victory in the men’s team by Raúl Molina and Víctor Béjar against Carlos Labrador and Saul Bernabéu (21-13/21-14).

In the Individuals 2 Asturias turned the score around with the victories of Belén Soto (21-14/21-12 vs Sara Arenas) and Mark Kravchyshyn (22-20/21-12 vs Raúl Molina). But Andalusia was able to take the three points by winning by a tight 4-3 thanks to the victories in the Individuals 1 of María del Pilar Carmona (21-9/21-9 vs Gabriela López) and Guillermo Muñoz (21-8/21 -3 vs Carlos Labrador).

And in their second group match against Aragón, the Andalusians finished that phase with a resounding 6-1. Guillermo Muñoz and Sara Arenas started the DX by beating Jorge Royo and Olalla Herrero (23-21/21-14). In the DF Aitana Tejeiro and Ester Iniesta beat Amanda Dieste and Olalla Herrero (21-16/21-19), while in the DM Raúl Molina and Víctor Béjar were victorious against Hugo Gállego and Pablo Ara (21-19/20- 22/21-14).

In the Individuals 2, Sara Arenas gave the mathematical victory to the Andalusians, beating Amanda Dieste (21-12/21-14) at the same time that Aragón debuted its locker with the victory of Hugo Gállego over Luis Domínguez (21-16/21- 6). And in the Singles 1 María del Pilar Carmona (21-12/21-5 vs Emma Nievedes) and Guillermo Muñoz (21-13/21-16 vs Jorge Royo) placed the final 6-1.

Today the Children’s Team will seek to advance to the next round in the first match of the final phase against the Region of Murcia (9:00 am).

INCLUSIVE

The Inclusive National Team, after losing to Galicia on Thursday and beating Castilla La Mancha, had a decisive clash to advance to the semifinals of CESA 2024. The Andalusians achieved said qualification to the semifinals by beating the Canary Islands 3-0.

David Carvajal and Iván Segura defeated Eduardo de León and Pablo Pineda in Doubles 1 (15-13/15-8). In Doubles 2 Alba Moriel and Mario Rodríguez did the same against Enzo José Mouriño and Julia Gopar (15-3/15-5). And in the third match Iván Segura, Mario Rodríguez and María del Pilar Carmona beat Eduardo de León, Pablo Gómez and Pablo Pineda in three sets (11-15/15-9/15-13).

Today Andalusia will play its semifinal at 9:00 a.m. against the Valencian Community.
