In 2020, Sébastien Ticoulat took over the presidency of the Archer Club Marmandais so as to “not see the club die”. Four years later, in 2024, he struggles again to find a replacement for his position which he is forced to leave for professional reasons.
If no solution is found, the Marmande archery club could be put on hold, and ultimately close.
Sports association in danger
“I need to free up time to have a professional life,” explains Sébastien, who wishes to take the State Diploma in Youth, Popular Education and Sport (DE JEPS). “Today, I spend more time here than at home. »
A heartbreak for someone who has always been a practitioner and trainer at the ACM which has more than 50 licensees. “It’s a club that has been in existence for over 40 years. Concretely, if there is no one, the club will be in danger and it will be put to sleep. The problem is that it’s complicated to relaunch a club after that. »

Find a new president
Sébastien assures him, he will remain a volunteer and will support his successor. But above all he wants to demystify an associative position which arouses fears. “No one wants the responsibility of the position, because it is the criminal responsibility of the person who is engaged. However, in 40 years of club life, there has never been anything. »

Although he does not hide the fact that this position takes time, he nevertheless wishes to recall the human adventure that it represents. “We meet exceptional people. You represent your club at the departmental and regional level and you can also share your ideas to develop this magnificent sport. »
His successor will still have to meet certain conditions. “You must know a minimum of the rules of archery, have at least six months of license with the federation and have already practiced at the ACM. » This last obligation is linked to the statutes of the association.
The ACM has until September 2024, the date of the General Assembly, to make a decision. If no one comes forward, the club could well and truly disappear.
