Argentina National Team Prepares for Copa América Debut: Last Practice Before Facing Canada

The Argentine National Team will have its last practice today before tomorrow’s expected debut against Canada, in the Copa América 2024. Lionel Scaloni’s squad will rehearse in the afternoon, behind open doors, and will finish defining the eleven for the premiere, which still has some doubts.

In goal and defense everything is ready: Emiliano Martínez will save and the last line will be made up of Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Nicolás Otamendi and Nicolás Tagliafico.

From the middle there are some doubts. Rodrigo De Paul is a regular, while Leandro Paredes, of good level in the previous rehearsals, earned a place and will start. And they fight for a place between Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández, with the advantage for the first.

However, at the end of Tuesday’s rehearsal, the coach tried bringing in the Chelsea midfielder to replace Ángel Di María, which could lead to a tactical variant to form 4-4-2.

Up top, the star Lionel Messi will be the starter and captain and the number 9 position is still up for grabs, in the midst of a very even fight between Lautaro Martínez or Julián Alvarez.

The possible formation of the Argentine National Team

Emiliano Martínez; Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Nicolás Otamendi, Nicolás Tagliafico; Rodrigo de Paul, Leandro Paredes, Alexis Mac Allister or Enzo Fernández; Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martínez or Julián Alvarez and Angel Di María or Fernández.
