Ariel Hukporti Joins Tristan da Silva in Making the Leap to the NBA

After Tristan da Silva, Ludwigsburg basketball player Ariel Hukporti (22) has also made the leap into the NBA.

With the 58th and last pick of the second round of the draft, the New York Knicks secured the services of the 2.13 meter tall professional. The center, who was born in Stralsund in 2002, moved to Ludwigsburg in the spring. Another German, Isaiah Hartenstein, plays for the Knicks.

Munich-born Tristan da Silva was selected in the first round by the Orlando Magic and will play in a team with German basketball world champions Franz and Moritz Wagner.

During the draft, teams secure the rights to young players one by one, but can also give up their positions or transfer rights to other teams as part of trade deals.
