PAOLA (Cs) – The project has concluded “Street Lab – Young people and well-being in the city” financed by Calabria region through the public notice for the granting of contributions in support of youth policies, “Interventions in the field of youth policies – Fund for youth policies for the year 2021”.
The project was carried out by ASD Polisportiva Azzurra Paola in collaboration with partners: CSAIn Regional Committee. Calabria, Libertas Cosenza Municipal Sports Center, ASD GB Scorza, “Beyond the Border” Association.
The event saw great participation from the beneficiaries, who enthusiastically welcomed an initiative which saw many young people from the area as protagonists aged between 16 and 34.
The participation of young people was also unique boys of Argentine nationality residents of Paola, and beyond, with whom friendships and cultural exchanges have been established between the participants, thanks to sport.
The project activities, structured on the basis of fundamental guidelines (Sport – Health – Wellbeing) they were created in public spaces based on the street workout principle in order to encourage outdoor training, favor an inclusive approach, promote active citizenship and the involvement of technical-sports figures to increase the practice of sport among young people.
The main meeting places were in fact the “San Francesco di Paola” seafront, Corso Roma, the city center and Largo “7 Fontane”places where the sports disciplines of the Rugby and Badminton.
Furthermore, in order to increase knowledge of the artistic-monumental heritage of the city of Paola and the surrounding municipalities, all the participants were involved in a wonderful city tour aboard a tourist bus to discover the beauty of the area.
The project finally ended with a great sports festival carried out in Paola in collaboration with the CSAIn and all the local associations.
A day of pure fun which involved the participation of many young people and in an initiative dedicated to sport, music and promotion of the world of volunteering.
Thanks to the commitment ofASD Polisportiva Azzurra Paola and upon completion of the project, the practice of sporting activities such as the Badminton and the Rugbywhich had not been practiced for some time as there were no reference points in the area.
The president of Azzurra Paola sports club, Francesco Naccarato expressed «great satisfaction for the realization of this project, thanks to which – he explained – the participation and diffusion of these sports disciplines for which we need to work more and more, and better, has been implemented again, making our young people protagonists and participating in their training.
Projects like these can only be achieved through everyone’s commitment, but also thanks to the precious support of Calabria region which I thank together with the Sports Federations involved (Italian Badminton Federation and Italian Rugby Federation) who daily support the Sports Associations for the diffusion of sport and its principles.
And special thanks to all the participants who enthusiastically made every single activity alive and full of content”, he concluded.
