Association Badminton Chapellois Hosts First Tournament at Léon-Coustenoble Sports Complex

This Sunday, theAssociation Badminton Chapellois (ABC) organized its first tournament at the Léon-Coustenoble sports complex, open to external teams. An official first-level event which allows those starting the competition to score their first points.

Originally from the Lyon region, Éric Lombard was looking for a family club far from elitist structures. This is how he settled down at the Chapelle club, where he took over the presidency a year ago, surrounded by a team of volunteers who support him. He thus succeeded Hubert Bève, historic president of the thirty-year-old club. With its 80 members, the Chaplain association lists around fifteen players who participate in the competition.

This Sunday, around eight badminton clubs responded to manhandle the shuttlecock, with nearly twenty-five competitors registered. “ I put forward this tournament idea last year. And when booking the premises at the town hall, we blocked the two rooms all day », explains Éric Lombard who admits to having been very busy with the preparations for this sporting event: “ It happened naturally. Everyone assigned their own little role and it worked out very well. It’s a springboard to do something else. Next time, we can go bigger! » Next step on Saturday June 22, with an internal badminton tournament, the same day of the general assembly. With the aim of bringing together a lot of people in its nets.
