ASVEL Faces Budget Reduction and Strict Supervision by DNCCG due to Financial Difficulties of Main Partner

While ASVEL’s budget will be significantly reduced compared to the 23 million of 2023/24, following the financial difficulties of SQUEAKINGone of its main partners, the Villeurbannais club will be one of the clubs most strictly supervised by the DNCCG at the start of the school year.

On June 25, when ruling on the clubs’ commitment to the LNB, the financial policeman of French basketball issued a framework for ASVEL’s payroll and limited it, preventively, to 80%. The remaining 20% can be released upon receipt of closed accounts from last season, no later than September 15. This is an automatic measure for clubs with a negative net situation as of June 30. The Portel is also affected.

Relief for Limoges

In addition, five other teams saw their payroll regulated at the budgeted amount. Which means that the club will not be able to exceed the payroll announced in its budget, unless a specific request is made to the DNCCG. There is Limoges, for whom it is a lesser evil after the turbulence of spring, but also the two finalists, AS Monaco and Paris Basketball. The BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque and the SLUC Nancy must also strictly stick to their account sheets. This supervision is automatic when the club’s net situation noted on the last closed accounts is less than 50% of the club’s share capital.
