Atalanta Triumphs with Victory Parade Through Bergamo

An open bus with ‘Campioni’ decals and the front scrolling writing ‘Atalanta champion’, which left at 8.45pm on Friday from Bergamo Alta, and arrived in front of the Curva Nord of the stadium after twenty past midnight, with a journey of over three and a half hours at a walking pace.

More than forty thousand people, practically a third of the inhabitants of the capital, witnessed the triumphal parade of Atalanta, dressed in the celebratory ‘Champions of Europe’ t-shirts, during the party in Bergamo for the conquest of the Europa League last 22 May in Dublin against Bayer Leverkusen. The march was slowed down by the incredible influx of fans of all ages, including chants, fireworks and flags, even climbing onto the traffic lights.

Having descended from Colle Aperto through Porta Sant’Agostino, the procession of the team, managers and technical staff then wound through the center shortly after 10.40pm, between the Sentierone and Porta Nuova, with people gathered there since at least 7pm, to then go back north-west escorted by the ultras of the Curva Nord towards the Gewiss Stadium where he arrived around midnight. At the stadium, a banner for the historic leader of the pluridaspato supporters, Claudio Galimberti known as Bocia, long resident in Marina di Marotta (Pesaro and Urbino): “Claudio… This victory is also for you and comes from enthusiasm and work of the past Despite the injustice and the distance we have not forgotten you!!!”.

There is a personalized one for the coach, “Enthusiasm and determination, Gasperini is now a champion”, while the interested party was continually urged by “Gasperini jumps with the curve”. Finally, among the many, “Thank you Atalanta for this fantastic year” and the chorus “We will win the Tricolore”.
