ATP authorizes physical data sensors in matches

The ATP announced this Thursday that it would authorize players to wear physical data sensors during matches in order to “analyze performance and prevent injuries”. The body has approved two sensors, STATSports and Catapult, and will centralize the data on its platform launched in 2023 ATP Tennis IQ to provide players with a whole series of statistics linked to their matches.

The data will remain confidential

“The sensors will generate cutting-edge information for players from physical measurements such as heart rate and high-intensity load data, improving their analysis of matches and training,” explains the ATP in a press release, adding that the data collected by the sensors “will remain confidential”.

These sensors will come into service the day after Wimbledon (July 1-14) in the tournaments in Hamburg, Newport, Gstaad and Bastad.
