At the beginning of February, Eintracht Frankfurt sealed the signing of Aurele Amenda for the new season – the Eagles were already interested in the Swiss defender from Young Boys Bern in the previous winter transfer window. The deal only worked out for the summer, but now his arrival at the Frankfurt training ground will be delayed even further.
As Eintracht announced on Wednesday, the 20-year-old has sustained a tendon injury in the back of his thigh. The central defender will now complete a rehabilitation program and, according to the club, will initially train individually when training begins.
In August, he is also expected to start team training – provided he “heals well”. It is clear that Amenda will miss large parts of the team’s preseason preparations. Frankfurt has scheduled the start of training for July 10, and the Eagles will travel to the USA for a training camp from July 22 to August 3.

Eintracht’s first competitive match will be in mid-August with a duel against Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round of the DFB Cup (16 to 18 August), and the Bundesliga season will kick off a week later.
Despite his young age, Amenda, who already has Champions League experience (four appearances for Young Boys), was also a candidate for the European Championship in Germany until recently. The Swiss was in the provisional squad of national coach Murat Yakin, but had to leave last week, like four other players. Also because Amenda was “slowed down by injuries from the start,” as Yakin said.
