Australia Secures First Win in AFF U-16 Cup 2024, Thailand Dominates with 6-0 Victory

Australia picked up his first win in AFF U-16 Cup 2024 after beating Malaysia 2-0. Meanwhile Thailand goal party against Timor Leste 6-0.

Competing at the Sriwedari Stadium, Surakarta, on Wednesday (26/6) afternoon WIB, Australia experienced a deadlock throughout the first half. However, just before halftime, Amlani Tatu successfully broke into the Malaysian goal to change the score to 1-0.

After the break, an almost similar scenario occurred. The Joeys finally got his second goal late in injury time through Rhys Williams.

Thailand had an easy game against Timor Leste in their next match at the same stadium. Jompon Homboonma inspired the War Elephants to victory after scoring a quat-trick.

Thailand’s goal party began after Homboonma broke through Timor Leste’s goal in the 21st minute. Natthakit Phosri increased the score four minutes later.

Homboonma scored his second goal and increased Thailand’s lead to 3-0 in the 28th minute. Ten minutes later, Thailand widened the gap with Timor Leste to four goals after Homboonma scored a hat-trick.

The score 4-0 marked the first half of the match.

After the break, Thailand lowered the tension in their game. In the last 10 minutes, Thailand’s two additional goals came through Phanuphong Wan-on in the 82nd minute, and Homboonma in injury time.

With this result, Thailand has the right to top the Group C standings AFF U-16 Cup 2024 after collecting four points from two matches. Australia are behind with four points, but are behind on goal difference. Malaysia is in third place with three points and Timor Leste is bottom with no points.
