Austria remains best third in group – sport.ORF.at

Austria’s chances of reaching the round of 16 at the European Football Championship in Germany are excellent. With a win in the final group match on Tuesday (6 p.m., live on ServusTV) against the Dutch, the ÖFB team would definitely advance as one of the two top teams in Group D.

A draw would see the Austrians advance as one of the four best third-placed teams in the group. Even a defeat against the “Elftal” by four goals would be enough to make it to the knockout phase.

The four best of six third-placed teams in each group will advance to the round of 16. Austria continued to lead the table on Monday evening. Due to the draw between Italy and Croatia, Austria can even afford a four-goal defeat and would still be ahead of the third-placed teams in Groups A (Hungary) and B (Croatia).
