Austria’s U20 national American football team has won bronze at the Junior World Championships in Canada. Head coach Roman Floredo’s team sensationally defeated the USA 32:25 (22:11) in the match for third place in Edmonton on Sunday. It is the first World Championship medal for Austria and also the first for a European football team.
After six European Championship titles, the AFBÖ junior team also won a World Cup in Floredo’s last game as coach. They had previously lost the semi-final against defending champions Canada 20:27. The hosts will face Japan in the final.
