Lieshout – The annual doubles tournament at Badminton Club Lieshout has been made very suitable for all participants this year. In addition to the top players who played in the A and B pools, the other participants completed their tournament in the C and D pools. There was also plenty of competition in these groups and Jos Kluijtmans (in the C-pool) and Annemieke Pham (in the D-pool) were the winners.

As mentioned earlier, Badminton Club Lieshout finds participating at least as important as winning. For that reason, she had set up the annual doubles tournament in such a way that all participants played in a suitable pool: a pool that matched their playing strength. This format allowed all participants to really enjoy badminton and measure their strength in doubles against equal opponents.

C hen
It was quite exciting in the C pool. So exciting in fact that after the regular games, the two leaders – Patrick Oosterholt and Jos Kluijtmans – had to play an extra game to determine who would be the eventual winner: they had both collected the same number of points during the tournament. In the deciding match, Jos Kluijtmans turned out to be the strongest doubles player in this group. Behind Jos and Patrick, Ainara Vandegard and Ingrid Bergé finished just ahead of Diony Janssen, who was able to help Jos Kluijtmans to victory again in the last match.

D-hen
In the D pool it was actually even more exciting and a double jump-off also had to determine an eventual pool winner. Both Rudi van Maaren, Wilco van den Bosch and Annemieke Pham had an exactly equal number of points after the regular tournament. In the first jump-off, Wilco van de Bosch was eliminated and in the second jump-off Annemieke Pham turned out to be the best doubles player in this group: she ultimately scored just a few more points than the others. Toos van Dam did not manage to score points in this group, but he said he had “played a nice tournament” and “had been very active.”
