Bagnaia predicts GP23 riders will be more difficult

Jakarta

So far Ducati has shown dominance in MotoGP 2024 with the Desmosedici GP24. But looking at the dynamics, Francesco Bagnaia predicts that GP23 will win soon.

Ducati dominates MotoGP 2024 through two machine riders this year, namely Bagnaia and Jorge Martin. Bagnaia has now won four major races, while Martin has only won twice but leads the standings thanks to his results in the Sprint Race.

Only one victory was achieved by a non-Ducati rider. Maverick Vinales won the United States MotoGP with an Aprilia machine.

Even though so far the GP24 seems unbeatable, Bagnaia sees that the GP23 riders are actually not that far behind. Judging by performance, Marc Marquez is the biggest potential threat to Bagnaia and Martin.

The Gresini Racing racer has been able to bring the GP23 to show its great potential, even though so far he has not managed to win, including in the Sprint Race.

“The fact is that we adapted well. Last year’s motorbike needed more time to adjust, but the motorbike itself is very good. On some tracks it is very competitive, on others less so,” said Bagnaia, quoted by Autosport.

“At Mugello here last year, the 2023 bike performed fantastically, also in Barcelona. So it’s difficult to understand why it’s not so fast now.”

“At the Jerez test, they had a new exhaust on the 2023 bike, which really helped overcome the problems faced last year, and more or less now it is very similar to this year’s bike,” he added.

Bagnaia is confident that the GP23 will soon win the race. His job is to make sure the old motorbike doesn’t smoke.

“I think the victory of the 2023 bike will come soon. But now the level is very high, with the new tires the level is very high again, and we are working specifically on the bike now.”

“We’re not just here, we’re not three slow riders, we just worked brilliantly,” added the 27-year-old racer.
