Bahiense del Norte Claims Victory in Semifinal of Local First Division Basketball

Bahiense del Norte defeated LN Alem tonight and took the first point in one of the semifinals of the local first division basketball, while Villa Miter (1) and Estrella (0) will follow in the other tomorrow, Friday.

The tricolor won, 75 to 58, on the Pacífico court, becoming strong in the last quarter (they won it 22-13) and closing very well a game that, although it was even, always had them dominating.

The contribution of Jorge García, scorer of the night with 17 points, was key for the winner: 3-8 in t3, 3-5 in t2 and 2-3 in free. In addition, there were 13 from Augusto Lamonega and 10 from Juan Pedro Hollender and Pedro Santiago respectively.

In the green-and-red team, which had Franco Maceratesi on the bench to replace Mauro Polla (affected to the U18 National Team), Lautaro Cavero (15) and Matías Ponzoni (14) stood out from the scoring. Alan González (10) and Marcos Diel (10) also added.

The series will continue next Tuesday, on the Villa Miter field.

Franco Maceratesi replaced Mauro Polla on Alem’s bench.

Although the final difference was wide and overwhelming, the truth is that at the Willian Hardeen Green there was an even game, with a shorter score but that always had Bahiense as the leader.

The beginning was the segment with the greatest parity and least fluidity of play, perhaps a sign of the more than 15 days of inactivity of both teams, after the quarterfinal keys were defined in the middle of last month.

The truth is that from the beginning Bahiense was the one that always had the reins of the game, from the scoreboard and showing itself somewhat more comfortable with the process. Although of course, he did not find effectiveness from long distance and did not manage to take off until the aforementioned end.

In the first quarter he went 2-11 in t3 and in that aspect and during the first half (in the 2C the effectiveness increased: 3-7) the zone defense and also the man-to-man suffered.

However, from time to time he added in the paint, taking advantage of a few centimeters of advantage and in other passages he took advantage of the breaks in his perimeter.

Alan González becomes a giant to keep the rebound.

Alem, for his part, forced the attack more and had a hard time finding fluidity and reliable ways to score. Almost without scoring from three-pointers (1-9 in the first half), he also loaded the internal game and tried to take advantage of some quick transitions. But always starting from individuals and without finding greater answers in the collective game.

In this context, the effective entry of Matías Ponzoni was positive, who came from the bench with 7 points (1-2 in t3 and 2-2 in t2) and brought fresh air to the green-and-red attack.

That combo put together an even first half, in which Bahiense escaped a couple of times within 6 points and with that difference they went to the long break: 33-27.

Ponzoni tries to go up against Pedro Santiago’s mark.

Upon returning from the locker room, Alem adjusted a couple of plays in defense, causing three losses and going from -8 to -2, punishing his rival’s inaccuracies.

Bahiense managed to get out of the attack quickly and took 7 which became 3 again thanks to a triple from Ponzini (41-38).

Although the tricolor responded to that bomb with another one and it was a kind of warning. Because to Roberson’s success, two more from Jorge García (perhaps the decisive player of the night) were then added and the light was once again 8 (53-45) heading into the last quarter.

There, the first minutes were uneventful, the game became short, with fouls and both teams failing more than usual from the line.

In fact, the partial in the first 4 minutes was 3-3 (56-48).

Cavero tries to beat Roberson to the baseline.

Diel shook off the drowsiness with a long double and another closer to the basket and put the green-red team within 4 (56-52).

However, Bahiense responded from their variations and began to break the game.

First he had an attack from Lamonega, who took advantage of Horvath’s exit due to five fouls (the last a technical) and added going inside: foul and bonus and also a double.

Added to that was Eddie’s second triple, a foul and double by Luengo and a hit by Santiago at the line. With a varied score he took 12 of light (67-55) and now with the clock as an ally, and against an opponent who did not find quick answers in attack, he broke the game from a numerical and also a mental point of view.

Finally, Bahiense won the fourth 22-13 and closed the first half of the semifinal in a better way, showing that they returned to the ring a little better than Alem.

But this is just starting…they follow her on Tuesday in La Villa.

La Bella brakes before the help of Cortés.
