At home, the top scorer was center Franco Pennacchiotti (27 points), while Federico Harina contributed 17 points (13 in the second half). Manuel Iglesias was also good with 10 points.

The second match will be played next Thursday on the same stage, at 9 p.m., with refereeing by Alejandro Ramallo, Horacio Sedán and Alejandro Vizcaíno.

Double Bahiense record – with Augusto Cárdenas and Jorge García – for Franco Pennacchiotti.

The third will take place next Monday, July 1, while if necessary, the fourth game will take place on Thursday the 4th and a fifth game would be on Monday the 8th.

Bahiense surprised the number 1 of the regular phase with a game that was built from the defense, achieving strength on the glass, maintaining the level of intensity and that began to consolidate with good percentages at the end of the third quarter.

He covered the loss of the experienced Leonardo La Bella with Augusto Lamonega who played at a high level, both for scoring (24 points, with 8-10 in free practice) and for his criteria for managing the timing of the game, running the court when necessary and wear down the rival with their penetrations. Performance that earned him the most valuable of his team and second most valuable in the match with a PIR of 30, behind Franco Pennacchiotti (31).

Facundo Mariano had a good second half for Bahiense, going 2-4 in triples.

Indeed, Villa had the best start to the game and series, with their emblematic player often beating Hollender in the low post to get 2 infractions from him and convert 11 points of his team’s 19 in the first period. In any case, Bahiense came on par with good offensive production from Franco Ginobili (7) and Lamonega (7). And the entry of Jorge García from the bench brought points and contributed to the defense and attack on “Penna”, since the tricolor center was loaded with 2.

In the second quarter, Villa Miter found an important scoring route in Fausto Depaoli with his penetrations (8 points) to take the partial victory to halftime.

Clenched fists and total euphoria for Franco Ginobili, after scoring his only triple of the night.

Bahiense appeared to be a patient team to build on offense, but except for the goals scored by García and Augusto Cárdenas, they had lost their goal share. Not in percentage of doubles (57%) but in shots from 3 (2-12) to be able to open the rival defense and allow their greats to work.

The third brought a novelty that Eddie Roberson (Bahiense) and Depaoli (Villa Mitre) reached the third foul in the first minute and a half. While Juan Pedro Hollender, worn down by Pennacchiotti, reached his fourth at 4m47s to close that set.

In this period, especially, Pedro Santiago’s defensive work was key for Bahiense, while Lamonega’s goal (11) gave the boost the team needed to start changing history. With continuity on the bench, which responded at the height with points from Jorge García (8), Cárdenas (5) and Facundo Mariano (3).

Showy tray for Franco Pennacchiotti, once again the figure of Villa Mitre.

Meanwhile, Villa Miter had lost consistency in defense and depended exclusively on Pennacchiotti, something that became more acute in the last one.

Santiago was the one who put the finishing touch on the quarter with a good offensive action on the last ball, with a double from an offensive rebound that left his team 7 up.

Bahiense started the last period as it had closed the third: with points and full of confidence. A triple converted by Mariano at the start took the lead to 10 (65-55), while then there was another by García (68-56, 8m away). And so the gap began to grow – there is no other term for such an advantage in a final – the gap, which reached 15 with Cárdenas’ triple from 4m away.

Villa Miter attempted the feat with a pure triple or double and additional play with Harina and Pennacchiotti, but they scored to 9 with one minute remaining (90-81).

Jorge García sticks out his chest, quite a postcard of the night.

Bahiense’s victory was not in danger and ensured a result that anticipates a high-level series.
