Bam Adebayo Inks $166 Million Extension with Miami Heat, Solidifying Status as Defensive Star

Bam Adebayo, one of the best defensive players in the NBA, will sign a three-year, $166 million extension with the Miami Heat.

Adebayo, who turns 27 in July, can sign the contract on July 6, according to league rules.

The Miami center has two years and approximately $72 million remaining on his current contract with the Heat, the only team he has played for since Miami drafted him in 2017.

Adebayo has made the NBA All-Defensive Team in each of the last five seasons, being selected to the first team for the first time last season.

A member of the U.S. Olympic team that won gold at the Tokyo Games three years ago, Adebayo is part of the team that will play in the Beijing Olympics.

This season, he averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
