While Barça and Real Madrid have had a historic rivalry for ages, it’s a funny story that Mundo Deportivo tells this Friday morning. Indeed, according to the Catalan newspaper, in August, Barça will open a second store… in Madrid! This 100% store will be located in Terminal 4 of Adolfo Suárez Airport, the busiest in Spain with 60.2 million passengers in 2023. This new store will be entirely managed by the club. The first store, inaugurated in December 2022 on Arenal Street, was a great success.
Second Barça store in Madrid!
Barça already has 13 own stores and four franchises, including two in Terminals 1 and 2 of Barcelona’s El Prat airport, which recorded 50 million passengers in 2023. These stores represent a great opportunity for Barça Licensing and Merchandising (BLM), responsible for the club’s retail business. The opening of the second store in Madrid will contribute to the finances of BLM, which reached a record turnover of 101.9 million euros last season , almost double from 2018-19. The forecast for the close of the financial year on June 30 is to reach 120 million euros, and the club hopes to reach 200 million in 2026, at the end of Joan Laporta’s mandate. BLM is the club’s fourth largest source of revenue, after sponsorships, ticketing and television rights.
