Bart Verbruggen named as Netherlands’ first-choice goalkeeper for upcoming matches and European Championship

Ronald Koeman has announced which goalkeeper will be his first goalkeeper in the matches against Canada, Iceland and at the upcoming European Championship in Germany. Bart Verbruggen will be preferred to Feyenoord players Justin Bijlow and Mark Fleks.

Tim Krul, the now 36-year-old penalty killer at the 2014 World Cup, thinks it is wise that Koeman made his choice of goalkeeper during the press conference on Wednesday, reports The Telegraph. “I always find quick clarity important, but especially now, because in my opinion the Dutch national team has three numbers one. I think that Bart, Justin and Mark are almost indistinguishable from each other and are all all-round,” said the former goalkeeper of the Dutch team.

It is very unlikely that Bijlow will make minutes at the European Championship. He is the third goalkeeper in the pecking order with Ronald Koeman at the European Championship.
