After the first double in the club’s history, Bayer 04 Leverkusen is working on the squad for a successful title defense during the summer break. On Thursday evening, the Werkself will present their first new signing: Aleix Garcia is moving from Spanish surprise team Girona to Leverkusen.
The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a contract with the Bundesliga champions until June 2029. According to reports from “Bild”, Leverkusen is transferring 18 million euros to Girona for Garcia’s services.

“Aleix Garcia is a player with excellent strategic skills, he is extremely accurate with his passing and operates from the number six position with great overview,” said sports director Simon Rolfes in a press release. “Aleix has leadership qualities that will be very valuable to us in the coming years,” the ex-professional continued.
Garcia led Girona onto the field as captain last season and scored nine points. With 37 appearances, the two-time Spanish international played a major role in the team’s first-ever Champions League qualification and third place in La Liga.
