Double winner Bayer Leverkusen has struck on the transfer market and secured the services of Spaniard Aleix Garcia. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder comes from Spanish surprise team FC Girona and has signed a contract with the Bundesliga club until June 30, 2029.

Last season, Garcia unexpectedly led his team to third place in La Liga and into the Champions League for the first time in 37 appearances as captain.
“Aleix Garcia is a player with excellent strategic skills, he is extremely accurate with his passing and operates from the number six position with great overview,” said sports director Simon Rolfes about the two-time national player: “Aleix has leadership qualities that will be very valuable to us in the coming years.”
Garcia scored three goals and provided six assists last season. The move to coach Xabi Alonso’s team is “a great thing,” said Garcia.
