Belarusian Judoka Darya Kontsevaya Wins Gold at BRICS Games in Kazan

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Belarusian judoka Darya Kontsevaya won a gold medal at the BRICS Games in Kazan.

The representative of our country celebrated success in the weight category up to 78 kg. In the quarterfinals, the Belarusian defeated the Bosnian Sofia Pajic, in the semifinals Kontsevaya was stronger than Tuigul Khamroeva from Uzbekistan, and in the decisive fight she defeated Beatriz Furtado from Brazil. Our Yana Makretskaya also managed to win a medal from the Kazan Forum, but in the fight for bronze in the weight category up to 63 kg she lost to the Brazilian Ketelin Araujo.

Belarusian Artem Kolosov won the silver medal in the men’s 60 kg category. The Belarusian judoka defeated Kamoliddin Bakhtiyorov from Uzbekistan and Huseyn Allahyarov from Azerbaijan during the tournament, but lost in the final to Gamzat Zairbekov from Russia.
