Belgian Football Union Alters Training and Media Schedule Ahead of Romania Match

The players will not have training or media obligations, as the Belgian Football Union explained on Tuesday.

A training session was normally scheduled to take place on Wednesday morning, followed by the usual press conference with two players at the start of the afternoon. This program was eventually replaced by media activities with the federation’s technical director, Frank Vercauteren, and operational director Jelle Schelstrate.

Training on Thursday, two days before the match against Romania, will be held behind closed doors. The training which took place two days before the match against Slovakia also took place away from view.

Arthur Theate and Youri Tielemans will speak at a press conference following closed training. Both players were back from injury and on the bench for the match against Slovakia. Tielemans entered the game, but Theate remained in his tracksuit.

On Friday, the Red Devils will train one last time in Freiberg, at 10:30 a.m., before packing their bags for Cologne. A press conference will take place there with the coach and a player at 7:45 p.m., before the next day’s match at 9:00 p.m. against Romania.

This Tuesday, the players benefit from a visit from their loved ones. The morning training only involved players who played little or nothing during Monday’s game. Jan Vertonghen then presented himself at a press conference.
