The Cofidis road racer will take part in the three track events in Paris.
Benjamin Thomas will compete in the team pursuit, the Omnium and the American in the track cycling events at the Paris Games according to the selection of the French team announced on Friday.
The Cofidis team rider, five-time world champion on the track, is taking part in the collective event alongside Thomas Boudat, Thomas Denis and Valentin Tabellion, while the young Oscar Nilsson Julien is a substitute.
Benjamin Thomas will be doing the American with Thomas Boudat with real hopes of a gold medal after the bronze at Tokyo-2020 (alongside Donavan Grondin, not selected this time). He will also participate in the Omnium where he finished fourth in Japan.
The women’s selection
In the women’s race, the pursuit team, which is a contender for a medal or better, will be made up of Marion Borras, Clara Copponi, Valentine Fortin and Marie Le Net. Victoire Berteau, who is also selected for the road race, is registered as the fifth rider. Clara Copponi and Marion Borras will compete in the American race and Valentine Fortin in the omnium.
Track cycling is scheduled for the second week of the Olympics, from August 5 to 11 at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome.
