Bogotá Second Region with Largest Contribution to Colombia’s Olympic Delegation

  • With the confirmation of goalkeeper Andrés Hernández, that number is added and it is the second regional with the largest contribution to the national delegation for the Olympic Games.

Bogotá, June 27, 2024.- With 30 days to go before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Colombia has 80 qualified athletes, of which 15 belong to Team Bogotá. This figure was reached after the recent confirmation of the young archer Andrés Hernández Vera, 16 years old, in the recurve archery category.

With this classification, Bogotá is positioned as the second region with the most athletes contributing to the national delegation, with only one week left until the official closing of the qualifying events that will define the world rankings and determine the last qualifiers for the Parisian games.

It is important to note that 62 of the places already have names. The final list of the 18 players of the National Football Team is still to be known in order to complete the total number of athletes who will officially represent Colombia at the Olympic Games.

Currently, Colombia has 80 athletes qualified for Paris 2024. Antioquia leads with 17 athletes, followed by Bogotá with 15, Valle with 13, and Atlántico, Cundinamarca and Santander with 3 each. With a classified athlete there are Bolívar, Norte de Santander, Tolima and Caldas.

The Bogotá athletes classified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to date, are:

Athletics: Eider Arévalo, Laura Chalarca, César Herrera and Mateo Romero (marching); Ronal Longa and Lina Licona (speed); Natalia Linares (long jump) and Angie Orjuela (marathon).

Boxing: Valeria Arboleda.

Equestrian: René López (jump).

Lucha: Allison Cardozo.

Weightlifting: Yenny Alvarez.

Archery: Andrés Hernández (recurve).

Cycling: Carlos Ramirez (BMX racing).

Skating: Jhancarlos González (skateboarding).
