Bolivia’s Young Footballers Shine in Friendly Match Against Mexico

Bolivia’s friendly against Mexico will be marked in the careers of some young footballers. Sebastián Álvarez, César Romero, Jamir Berdecio and Miguel Villarroel debuted in the Senior National Team and showed the unity of the team. With the trust of Antonio Carlos Zago and his teammates, they jumped onto the field and played their first game with La Verde, receiving advice from the most experienced.

Given Jesús Sagredo’s injury, Zago called Álvarez. With a quick preparation, he entered the Soldier Field grass in the final stretch of the first half to complete the defensive line. At various times, Jairo Quinteros, Carlos Lampe and others approached the 22-year-old defender from Oriente Petrolero to give him more security in his position by explaining some movements of the game.

These signs of unity once again stood out in the National Team in various minutes of the second half when Romero, Berdecio and Villarroel entered. Fernando Saucedo and first captain Leonel Justiniano also guided the young players. They all showed personality in their positions.

Álvarez was one of those who stood out the most among all the players on the National Team. He recorded: 37 passes completed out of 45, 2 clearances, 5 interceptions and 1 sweep won out of 2 attempts. Berdecio, with his filming in the Philadelphia Union second team, won 3 of 5 aerial duels and on the grass and his only sweep was effective in just a dozen minutes on the field.
