Borussia Mönchengladbach Set to Sign Tim Kleindienst as Top Scorer Prepares for Move

It is becoming apparent that Borussia will pull off the coup in the number nine position. Tim Kleindienst has apparently decided to leave Heidenheim and join the five-time German champions. The striker can move early due to an exit clause in his contract, which runs until 2027. Gladbach will have to pay a transfer fee of seven to eight million euros for the 28-year-old.

If the deal goes through, Borussia would have beaten top-class competition in the bid to sign the goal scorer. VfB Stuttgart, who will be taking part in the Champions League next season, were among those interested in signing the striker, and Union Berlin was also in the running. Overall, there is a large number of interested parties in Kleindienst, who scored twelve goals and provided five assists in the last Bundesliga season.

In the end, Borussia will most likely win the race – it would be another transfer success after the free transfer of Kevin Stöger (30, VfL Bochum), who was also intensively courted by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Gladbach’s transfer period is marked by the leading players

With Kleindienst and Stöger, Gladbach’s offense is getting a significant upgrade. Both players were key figures in their teams and were also among their leaders. The topic of leadership is at the top of Borussia’s agenda for this transfer period – and the results so far are impressive. Finally, the Foals have signed a third proven leader in Philipp Sander (26): The midfielder is moving to the left bank of the Lower Rhine as captain of Bundesliga newcomers Holstein Kiel.

Kleindienst contributed 25 goals and seven assists to Heidenheim’s promotion in the 2022/23 second division season. But it is precisely the overall package that sets the athletic 1.94-meter man apart. Kleindienst works hard for the team, is important for counter-pressing, and brings his heading strength not only up front in attack, but also in opposing set pieces. In addition, he made the most sprints in the sprint-strong Heidenheim team last season (1055).

A year ago, Borussia were already interested in Kleindienst – now, if nothing comes up at the last minute, the dream transfer will go ahead.
