Boulders Manager Assures Team Is Ready for Quebec Challenge

While some teams sometimes seem intimidated to come and play in Quebec, the Boulders manager assures that his club knew what it needed to do.

“Each player signs a contract at the start of the season which stipulates that they must travel to Quebec and I expect them to come here with the intention of winning the series. We have high goals as a team and if we want to achieve these goals, we certainly have to be able to win in places like here,” explains the man who is in his fourth season in New York.

The man who played in the Quebec uniform for mainly five seasons assures that there is still work to be done in his current team.

“It’s a good win for us, Quebec hasn’t lost in a while. We were solid on the mound and we had some timely hits.”

Boulders starting pitcher Brandon Backman was spectacular on the mound, giving up no runs and striking out 12 batters. A very satisfying performance for Stanton.

“Twice, Quebec had runners on base with no outs and he was very effective in those situations. For the rest of the game, he was in control. We know he has an electric arm and he’s been doing a good job for us since the beginning of the season. His earned run average isn’t important to us, we prefer to look at his win column.”

Brandon Backmon now has a record of six wins against no losses and his ERA of 5.00 will automatically drop with tonight’s game.

Difficult evening

For his part, Capitales manager Patrick Scalabrini gave all the credit to his opponents.

“They’re a good baseball team. Their starting pitching has been really solid and they’ve had some good offensive production with 12 hits. It’s a little hard to explain, but they had a good game plan. Our last two losses, it was Sam Ryan on the mound and they’ve been hitting the barrel of the bat a little too much for my taste.”

The leader was not at all disturbed by the defeat of his team, knowing that the law of averages was playing against his team after two good winning streaks. Scalabrini will send his two best gunners in turn with Abdiel Saldana and Harley Gollert for the last two games of the series.

Notes: The Capitales now find themselves a game and a half behind the Boulders for first place in the division… Saturday’s game will be the one where the organization will present the championship rings from last season…
