Schröder and Braunschweig – that fits. Dennis was born here, took his first steps as a professional in his hometown and is now a shareholder in the Lions. In the final phase of the season he watched many games of “his” team, which missed the playoffs and finished in twelfth place.
Now he is looking forward to having Schröder (no relation!) on the field next season. Löwen managing director Nils Mittmann (45) is convinced of the qualities and potential of 2.04 meter tall Benjamin Schröder, saying: “Benny is still at the beginning of his career and has just completed two years of college, which were not always easy.”

Schröder is a U20 national player, comes from Bayern Munich’s youth team and most recently played for George Washington University in the US college league NCAA. At 17, he was already playing in the 3rd division (Pro B) for Unterhaching, then took the step to the USA in 2022.
Mittmann continued: “We want to give him further opportunities for development and growth so that he can exploit his potential even more and we are convinced that he has a great future ahead of him.”

For this purpose, he was given a double license in Braunschweig, meaning he can play not only in the BBL team of the Lions, but also in the regional league with cooperation partner SG FT/MTV Braunschweig.
He has a special memory of his namesake and also of Mittmann. Schröder: “I saw my first professional game when I was 9 years old. It was Bayern against Braunschweig, and Dennis Schröder and Nils Mittmann were still playing at the time. That really inspired me.”
Now he has signed his first professional contract with their team.
